- WRATH OF JUDGMENT
-
Recently, one of the faculty members was transporting students to an outreach in a village just across the street from the college. As he drove down the dirt road he saw "thousands" of youth - ages 5 to 12 or so - running. When he had picked up the students he asked what was going on. They had heard that the kids were chasing a prostitute out of the village, throwing stones and mud clods as they went.
He asked the students what they thought they should do. They agreed that they should pick up the girl and get her to the police station where she would be protected from the mob. By the time they moved through the crowd with the car the girl and a friend had gotten to a mini bus and driven away.

The following is taken from an assignment in Connie's English class. It is a different world here where few things we are used to we can take for granted:
"Many enjoyable activities in this area (lake) are inexpensive or even free. For instance, when we want movies, we do not pay any money, but we just ask those who have the electronic materials to borrow from them. Thereafter, choose a comfortable room which has electricity to connect our materials, then we watch any move of our choice."

- DECEMBER CONCERT FINALE
-
Friday, December 5th was our final performance for the first semester. The Beginner Band, Advanced Band, Chorale, and Jazz Combo all performed. It really was a joyous occasion. My hope was that people would see the revelation and glory of God in the creativity of His creatures. Because music is one of the many expressions of God's image it comes in many styles. The groups performed music from several countries around the world and from nearly 12 centuries of music history!
The bands played several folk songs including a contemporary Malawian song. The choir performed a contemporary chorus by Michael W. Smith and an arrangement of "A Mighty Fortress is Our God" by Martin Luther in the 16th Century. I arranged it using Luther's own writing for the first verse, Bach's in the second and then a somewhat more Handel-like Baroque style in the third and fourth verses.
