CHICKENS IN THE HOUSE

"Mom, why is there a chicken in our house?"  This was what pulled me out of my "office" (bedroom) the other day.  When I went into the hall, Janelle, Shea and Robert Young were looking into the office where a brown chicken was taking over.  As the kids formed a wall blocking the rest of the house, I shooed her out the front door.  Then we discovered chicken poop behind the couch on the tile and it looked like it had been there a while....so don't know how long she'd been with us!  Then a few minutes later, I hear a ruckus in the kitchen.  Our friend was back, perched up on the counter by the microwave.  I grabbed her leg and threw her out the door.  It was so funny.  Now, those of you who've visited us here might be surprised that we now have chickens on campus.  It seems it's now THE birthday present of choice!  The kids think it's great to get a chicken....I'm not telling ANYONE when my birthday is coming!!!  That'll be new for me, huh Brit?  Britney does NOT believe that! 

Anyway, I told our friends, the new doctor and his family whose 3 year old daughter owns the offending hen, this story.  We were all laughing about it because it was so funny, but they felt bad and made little Alice Ann give me the fresh egg the hen, "Princess", had just laid! HAHA  It was so funny.  The sweet little southern mommy said, "Alice Ann, wouldn't you like to give Mrs. Dehnert that egg?"  Sweet little Alice Ann slowly shook her head, no she wouldn't.  HA!  I protested that it was fine for her to keep it, but her mom really wanted to give me the egg, so sweet Alice Ann after me saying, "Thank you, Sweetie!  That's soooo nice of you!!!"  Gave me the egg!  It came in really handy the next morning when I went to make a coffee cake before church and that was the only egg in the egg locker!
