CONTINUING CULTURE CLASH

I am finding more and more that the missionary who once told me that the primary purpose for cross-cultural missions is the challenging of one another's culture that takes place is indeed correct.  The Gospel challenges all our ideas, all our values and all areas of life.

In Marriage & Family class, most of the students and I sat by and watched Connie and one particularily keen student discuss at length how a husband can "honor and respect his wife" who is a weaker vessel in the physical sense.  The problem arises in this culture in that there are very distinct roles for the husband and wife in regards to the division of labor.  It is completely outside the norm for the husband to help in carrying the water, produce, or child or to help with kitchen things like cooking and cleaning.
