Monday night, the 18th of March, 2008 - 5 men attempted to break into a house in Kauma village near the village I sometimes take students for outreach. People in the village apparently heard the commotion and got out of bed and seized the robbers. One of the robbers was held for the police, but the other 4 were burned to death. They doused them with Petrol and lit them on fire.
Recently, members of our congregation have been asked to give financially towards helping victims of robbery in our congregation. There have been many robberies lately and many have been violent. It seems to some people that there have been more of these robberies than usual. We do not fear as we are really quite well protected. These robberies are usually in lower middle class neighborhoods where they have little security - dogs, bars on windows, bars on doors, etc.
